Shane Black’s sequel to the 1987 classic ‘Predator’ has had its shooting dates confirmed for this year.

There have been a number of franchise sequels that’ve come since the original movie that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers, not least a city-set sequel starring Danny Glover, as well as 2010′s ‘Predators’.

Black, on the back of promoting his current film, ‘The Nice Guys’, featuring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, will start filming ‘The Predators’ in Vancouver, Canada on 26 September, of this yea, according to the Directors Guild of Canada (via Screen Rant).

It’ll conclude its shoot on 20 December, leaving 2017 for any re-shoots and its editing, before the film is released in US cinemas on 9 February, 2018, and around a month later here in the UK.

Shane Black’s got a solid track record when it comes to both writing and directing. He began his career with the ‘Lethal Weapon’ screenplay, and went on to pen ‘The Long Kiss Goodnight’. Recently, he wrote and directed 2005′s ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’ and 2013′s billion dollar-breaking ‘Iron Man 3′.

What’s more, there’s talk that Arnie may reprise his character, Dutch, from the original movie – the only surviving member of the ‘Predator’ on-screen cast. However, with only a few months until the film begins its shoot, the cast is still under wraps, with a rumour that Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson is allegedly lined up for a role.

Indeed, if Arnie is due to return to the world of ‘Predator’, chances are Black’s simply holding off announcing it until momentum begins to build for the film. Rather than a straight reboot, this is reportedly a sequel to the original film, following on from that initial story thread. Chances are Schwarzenegger, 68, will serve as a means of passing on the role of responsibility to whichever actor ends up fronting it.
